Strategies to Kick Start Your Year

It’s that time of year when most of us are gazing into 2019 wondering how we are going to achieve our personal goals, business targets and KPI’s.

So rather than simply wish you a “Happy New Year” I wanted to add value by giving ideas to help create momentum for the year ahead.

Learn From Other Industries

Gareth Southgate, the England football manager spends time in the relentless pursuit of ‘marginal gains’ by seeing what can be learned from looking across at other sports such as rugby union, cycling and NBA basketball.

Rugby World Cup winning rugby coach Clive Woodard’s mantra was to do 100 things 1% better than anyone else.

QUESTION – How could the strategy of marginal gains work for you?

The Robots are Coming

You can’t do tomorrow’s business with yesterday’s tools!

Last year I attended an eyebrow raising talk by Professor Kam-Fai Wong from The Chinese University of Hong Kong on the subject of Artificial Intelligence.

In 5 years time our world will be a very different place than it is now, so have a learning plan and be prepared to invest in your own self development.

QUESTION – How can you gain a competitive advantage from the changes ahead?

Carve Out Time for Thinking

Digital distraction has stolen much of our thinking and reflection time.
Break the habit of being too task focussed by scheduling ‘do not disturb’ time in your calendar and stick to it. This can be one of the best investments you will ever make time wise.

QUESTION – How are you going to carve out time for reflection and strategic thinking?
